Dr Yi Liu

YI LIU holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Cambridge (2024). He earned his MRes in Integrated Photonic and Electronic Systems from University College, London (2018), as well as his BSc in Electrical and Electronic Engineering with first-class honours. He is currently a Research Associate in optical wireless communication (OWC) at the University of Cambridge. Yi specialises in designing and developing experimental OWC systems and free-space optics. His work includes high-capacity OWC systems, focusing on low-cost optical transmitters, high-sensitivity optical detectors, and multi-user connectivity. His research interests cover high-speed optical communication, wireless fronthaul, nano and micro-optics design, and physical layer security.
